[If nothing else, it cuts through his deadpan. His eyes flash dangerously, expression flickering briefly between anger and contempt, back to deadpan, and then narrowing into a glare before he can decide how he wants to react to it. He's deadpan, back to bored sounding, but with a thick undercurrent of antipathy he's never shown Perona before, even when he was discussing his despise for Gecko Moria.]
Do not forget your place either, Ghost Princess.
I hardly rely on just my ability to fly in order to avoid flightless swallows who depend on metal sticks to make their points for them, eh.
[Whitebeard's name might not mean much to anyone two years after the war, but Marco wasn't the right hand man to the strongest man in the world without earning a reputation for himself. On the one hand, he does wish he had Vista around so he could leave Mihawk for Vista deal with. However, Vista wasn't there and protecting his crew was Marco's job. Even against swordsmen if it was required. To be sure, Marco is overly arrogant, and antagonistically picking a fight where he doesn't need to, but if Mihawk is going to raise a blade against him or those Marco protects, Marco would prefer to know about it sooner rather than later. Luceti's shifts meant that something could come up to make Marco or Ace far more infuriating than Marco's current childish attempts at amusement. Of course, pestering Mihawk continuously until he snapped meant that Marco might also create a "final straw" effect, but Marco is of the belief that this is all a matter of "when" rather than if. Ergo, he'd rather do it on his time over something stupid. Not that this is particularly brilliant or anything.]
