☠ 9th Haunt ☠ - [Voice]

[It's late in the day, and Perona's just waking up. Since the end of the draft, she'shad the worst kind of sleep possible - either little at all or wrecked with horrendous nightmares. Normally she's never been bothered by the sight of death, corpses, blood, and the like, but...that was when it wasn't her own body that was dead. She couldn't help dwelling on that fact every now and again, and when she felt she was just starting to forget and get over it, her dreams reminded her. Even everyday life began to be a mess on her nerves. Day by day she kept getting anxious about being outside, especially when on her own in quiet places. It felt like she was being...watched.

So today, after getting up and tying back her hair - she doesn't bother with brushing it yet, she needs a strong cup of coffee before doing her morning routine today - she settles down with aforementioned cup of coffee and sighs. Waving her hand, a few of her ghosts materialize from her palm and phase through her walls to go out and observe Luceti for their master. Perona's much too lazy to scout things for herself, and besides...she looks terrible and it's too late in the day to get ready.

As she reads through her journal, she sighs and sips her coffee, rubbing her face slowly. Ugh, she knows she should go out and do things, but she's so lazy. In fact, she knows what she really wants to do - she wants to sail. She's even seen ships moored near the ocean here, and thought to, erm...borrow one if they weren't being used. Might as well ask, right? Just so she doesn't get anyone on her case if she does happen to take one, but for weeks she's seen the ships there, and they haven't been cleaned, moved, or tended to at all...it was kind of depressing, actually. They were lovely ships.]

The ships moored near the ocean...are they being used at all? I'd like to set sail later today for a day or two.

[No, she does not know about the ocean nor the ships, by the way. That they have both poofed, just so we're clear.]

It was... it happened on the 19th!

Mmh...I haven't seen anyone tending to the various ships in weeks, and if there's no one to care for them, I'd like to take one for myself.

It'd be better than leaving them to rot. [Which she actually feels really bad about. Those poor ships were lovely, and they must be feeling so lonely and neglected... Someone should at least clean them from time to time!]

Mmh...that was quite a while ago. I'll have a look for myself later. [Or she'll send out one of her ghostly scouts, of course. Hopefully by now everything's been sorted out...maybe.]

Good point... I haven't really checked after I looked at the ruins. And it's hard to tell with how everything keeps changing back and forth these days. It might be back!

Oh, much better than letting them rot. I'm sure Jack would be really happy to hear that his ship was still being sailed, but it's just that I don't know. It could be docked at the beach or it's being used. It's sadly not something I kept up with like I should have. [For Jack's sake, he really hopes it is.]

Ruins? [Ruins usually have valuable things in them and Perona absolutely adores valuable things. She is a pirate after all, and you can't keep a pirate from being completely obsessed with treasure now, can you? She is definitely sending out a scout (right now, actually) to take a look see...] Was anything important found?

[Gold? Jewels? Priceless artifacts? Corpses? ♥♥♥]

[Perona can tell when a ship's not being manned. Certain things are amiss, as well as the overall ship being unclean. You pick up on the smaller details of caring for your ship over many years of sailing, and you grow to appreciate how to deal with them quickly. It's actually very upsetting to Perona as a pirate and a sailor.

The ghost backs off a good foot or two befor another one seems to just phase out from its right side, then soars off in the direction of the ocean. Yep, she is checking that right now.]

Huh? That makes no sense! The river and the ocean are practically the same thing!

[Vash oooohs and claps as the ghost splits into two. As if he was merely an impressed simpleton. At least on the outside that's exactly what it looks like. On the inside he's taking notes on how to avoid being touched by those ghosts ever again.]

That was a really neat trick!

[Oh lord, it's like talking to a cinderblock. Perona pinches the space between her eyes, starting to feel her exhaustion and frustration meld into pure rage and exasperation.]

You've never sailed a day in your life, have you?

[Impressed simpleton or not, the praise certainly does wonders for Perona's ego. The remaining ghost's lips curl into a pleased smile and its long tongue lols happily from its mouth - the usual sign of a happy negative hollow.]

Horohorohoro...I have many more, but I'm afraid that's all I'll show you. Unless you'd like to play with this little one here, and he can show you what he can do. [WAFTING REAL CLOSE.....

Then pulling back and waving its little arms and feet.] But since you helped me, I won't do that.

Uh, no, but that doesn't mean I don't know water when I see it.

Then you have no right to patronize me, nor to say a damn thing, about what I want to do or where I wish to sail.

It's not simply water, you brainless idiot - sailing on the ocean is vastly different from sailing on a river. Before you open your flapping mouth, think about what you know and don't know. [And that's that. Perona shuts her journal with a harsh snap. She's not about to have an argument with someone who doesn't know what the hell he's talking about.]

[Anise is about as well-informed about the ocean situation as Perona is (which is to say, not at all). But, a luxurious ocean cruise feels like exactly what she needs right now!]

[Just to be clear, it's not at all because Anise is afraid of the cultists breaching the barrier after what she learned in the last draft. Not at all. And it's definitely not that Anise was still having trouble sleeping because of all of the nightmares.]

[She just needed a luxury cruise.]

Are you planning on sailing somewhere?

[Because you can count Anise in.]

[Too bad a long and luxurious cruise isn't in the schedule. Just a brief sail around the waters however far Perona can get from land before the barrier puts a halt to her fun. She just misses the waves and the air - it's in her blood to be on the ocean, being landlocked for so long isn't good for a pirate.

But don't you worry, Anise, Perona is a cushy, spoiled, pampered princess - she'll make do with what she has and make things enjoyable for those like herself that take pleasure in the material world.]

Only as far as I can go... This ocean is nothing like the one of my world. But I haven't been on a ship since I arrived, and that's no good for someone like me.

The best looking one, obviously. [Jane...]

You really did pick a bad time to ask about that, though. Are you naturally unlucky or what?

[Vash leans back even more, nearly tipping over into the fountain.] A-a-ah-ah-ahhhhh! [His arms pinwheel in panic then the ghost pulls back, but it's too late for Vash as he falls back into the fountain with a splash.] Ah-hahahhaha. That's good. G-glad to help.

[Perona rolls her eyes. That doesn't help her any... Whatever, she'll speak with Law and perhaps address the village at large one day. If the ship she wants is this girl's, well...that'll be somethig she'll need to figure out later then.]

Eeh? What do you mean?

[Perona begins to laugh, her laughter echoing through her ghost as it does a pleased little jig a few feet away. Ah, it never fails to amuse her when she spooks someone bad enough they fall over. She really needed the laugh, too, so that's just an added bonus at this point.]

Horohorohoro! Well then, it seems I should have this little one be on its way. You seem to have other pressing matters regarding your clothes anyway, so I'll leave you to it. Bye-bye~!

[The ghost waves its hands in farewell before spiraling into a backwards flip and zooming away. Perona may go out later after she's heard from her other hollow ghost that was scouting the ocean, but it's so late in the day already she may just stay home instead. She'll be okay on what food she has until tomorrow morning.]

Yeah, I think I might need to change them for some reason. [Vash looks just slightly put out as he waves back at the little ghost before it flies off. His annoyed sigh turning into a happy grin once it's gone and he pulls himself out of the fountain. Getting someone in Luceti to laugh like that was really worth being soggy for a little while. Besides, it was a nice day. He had a feeling his coat would be dry in no time at all on it's own.]

[That's all Anise needed to know. Luxury accommodations? A chance to get off of the land ~~and potentially avoid the second coming of the cultists~~? Even if they weren't going far, it was also a chance for her to hang out with Miss Perona more.]

Can I come with you? ♥

[She'll be the best (and cutest) little vice-captain you can imagine.]

[Oh, Anise, you are positively the most adorable little first mate Perona could ever hope for. ♥ She'd be glad to take a cutie like you along and even teach you a few things about ~~piracy~~ sailing and navigation to boot!]

Eh, but I don't have a ship...

Unless I steal the one I had my eye on...

It's only for a few days, right? I'm sure they wouldn't mind if we borrowed it. ♥
