Dracule "Hawk-Eyes" Mihawk slightoverkill Perona and Mihawk's relationship can only be classified as one word - Bizarre. She had never expected to come to care for the man as she does now, but two years spent together can truly change the opinion of a person, sometimes. Mihawk, while cruel, cold, blunt, and sometimes downright mean in his own respect, acts as a sort of foundation for Perona. He's undoubtedly strong, being the greatest swordsman in the world as far as she knows, and she truly does respect him for it. Perona holds Mihawk in a rather high regard, and while she dies still tease and torment him, her level of making his life miserable is heavily downplayed. She's well aware the shichibukai has a small level of tolerance, and usually doesn't go past the very fine line of his patience. Usually. In Luceti, Mihawk's become more than he was on the Grand Line. On the Grand Line, he was a presence she enjoyed from time to time, a person who she could fall back on if she had to just for the company and someone to talk to. In Luceti, he's all that, but to a much higher degree. Because Perona's rather aware of how alone she is, she values Mihawk much more as a person. She confides in him when she can, even if it's just for the presence of another person. She enjoys his refined tastes and even how laid back he can be on some things. It's good to know she can be lazy around Mihawk sometimes, and he just won't care. She also enjoys how much she can get away with, sometimes, around the Shichibukai as well. Which bring up the matter of trust. Perona, unabashedly, trusts Mihawk to an outstanding degree. She may not even be aware of it herself, but she does. She can go to him for guidance, just to talk, or to sulk at. He'll even allow her to hug him from time to time when she's upset. She also trusts his strength, in that he can very well handle himself in a fight and she won't have to go out of her way to really help out. She will, of course, if she has to, but the aspect would be foreign to her. And if he were to get injured, she'd be stunned to silence. Anything more than that, and she wouldn't be able to cope or accept it. Maybe because of her naive way of thinking that Mihawk's so strong he can't die, or that the only one who should be able to injure or kill him would be Zoro. Or should be, as sick as even that thought makes her. Needless to say, Perona cares about Mihawk without a fabric of a doubt. He's earned a place in her heart and, while she's fairly aware he doesn't feel the same and probably won't ever feel the same, she's just happy to have him with her again. |
Sabo sailedfirst Sabo has definitely grown on Perona as she lived in Luceti. From when she was still her younger, naughtier, brattier self to today, Sabo has always been someone that she liked spending time with. At first, he seemed to her like just a scruffy little kid - kind of cute in his own respect but with a hard edge. That he was so interested in becoming a pirate was more than enough to get Perona to look twice at him. Even more so that he's a smart, polite, and pretty decent little boy. For looking like a punk, he's not a bad guy. It was certainly a shock. What was more of a shock, however, was how close she found herself getting to the little boy. Sabo was the first person, ever - not just in Luceti, to ask to be her friend. Now, for a girl with only servants and a mish-mashed crew based on necessity and usefulness than actual bonds of loyalty and friendship, that was a real stunner for Perona, especially when she was younger. She wasn't very clear on what it meant to be friends with someone, and while she accepted, her wants of thinking and speaking were a little...sheltered, to put it frank. She believed friends did favors to get favors, or to repay favors done to them. That's always what she did, so she didn't know better. Now that she's older, and gained a little more experience in the ways of dealing with people as companions and ever friends, she can reciprocate Sabo's friendship appropriately and tries to sometimes do a little more for him, because he was the first person to ask to be her friend. She adores the boy, and spoils him rotten because of that. She'll lavish him with sweets and affection because she loves him so, and also because he's just so darn cute! Perona loves how utterly adorable Sabo is, and relishes his company when he's around. Of course, being a child, Perona's also become rather protective of Sabo as well. Yes, he has two Whitebeard Commanders as his brothers as well at Straw Hat himself (both of which make Perona awkward and leery to a variable degree), but she can't help but want to step in if he's ever sad or hurting. Her nurturing, compassionate side comes out strongest when she's with Sabo, and Perona's sure that if push came to shove, she'd fight for him. She already has, to keep some pesky ghosts from bothering him. It'll be no time at all when she begins thinking of the boy as not just a friend, but a little brother of sorts. They have fun together when they hang around, and Perona always smiles when she sees him. Sabo is something definitely special to her. A sweet boy that can make her smile just by being close to her. She loves and treasures him so very much. |
"Black Leg" Sanji concasse Sanji has proven time and time again, on so many levels, that he is more than what he first appeared to be. Perona's first opinion of the chef was that he was nothing more than a slobbering idiot and not quite well in the head. She hated his guts and dealt him a heavy blow with her foot and her hollows alike back on Sabaody the first time they met again after Thriller Bark, and that was supposed to be the final word. Then Luceti happened. In Luceti, Perona's come to see Sanji better, and has taken a definite shine to him over the course of time. She began to see him for who he really is, not what she just assumed him to be from a one-time meeting. He's a kind, caring, wonderful gentleman who really and truly likes her for her, not just because she's a woman. He took care of her when she was younger, helping her after she came back from her first kidnapping (which still haunts her) and walked her home when she couldn't. He even caters to her extravagant appetite and always goes above and beyond her expectations. Sanji's proven himself to Perona with flying colors that he's someone she can look at and think highly of. He's a person to her now, not just "some man". Nor is he someone she wants to use and abuse anymore, either. He's become close to her heart, and his company is something she enjoys without any ulterior motives. He has become a friend. A friend despite a few bumps in the road. Perona's never had anyone she really cared about or would do anything for, ever in her life. Not before Zoro and Mihawk, at least. Learning about Zoro's death from Sanji, and that he was the cause of that death, broke her in a way that was...plainly, a complete and utter trainwreck. She lashed out at Sanji in anger, when there was no reason for her outward aggression at him. Yet, despite that, he still came to her, offered her solace, comfort (in the form of food), and more important than anything else, his friendship. It's the second time anyone's ever asked that in a straightforward manner to Perona, so she was taken aback at first, obviously, and questioned him why. She asked, flat out, why he goes to such lengths for her - a previous enemy who had him bound and watched as his and his crewmates' shadows were taken away - he answered honestly. "Because [you] have a good heart." She hadn't expected such an answer, and that very well sealed it for her. Sanji has become a friend, a dear and treasured one, perhaps on a tier parallel to that of Mihawk and Zoro. She cares for him to an outstanding degree, and would do things for him now that she would never, ever, have done for him prior to Luceti. |
Roronoa Zoro gavemyword Perona never expected to care about Zoro as much as she does. Really, she had no intent what-so-ever for him to become as close to her heart as he is now. Back when she first saw him on Kuraigana, a withered and bloody mess, she wanted to just leave him there to die. He was her enemy, after all, she had every right. She didn't have to lift a finger to help him. Yet, in the end, Perona not only dragged his sorry carcass back to the castle, she also nurtured and healed his injuries to the best of her abilities. There was little reasoning to her actions, though she'll tell you it was because she didn't want to be alone, that she needed a companion to keep her entertained, it's obvious there was something more. Over time, Zoro's become something of a beloved punchingbag for Perona. He's very near and dear to her heart, even though they argue a good 99% of the time. Maybe it's because she cares for him so much that she makes it a personal mission to tell him off about every little thing that he does and says, maybe she just wants to change him for the better. Either way, Perona thinks highly of Zoro, even if she'd never, ever, say so out loud and instead insults him at every opportunity. She admires his strength, and definitely respects his resolve. She may call him a fool and an idiot for the things he says and does, but deep down she's actually kind of proud of him for going the extra mile, and coming out on top because of it. He works hard to get what he wants, and that's something to admire. Of course, there are time where Perona actually wants to beat the tar out of Zoro, because he is an idiot. He worries her sometimes, and that makes her angry, because Perona does care about him, and she does cherish him as a companion and even as a friend, maybe. He's special to her; she treated his injuries for two years on Kuraigana, and lived with him, learned somethings about him, in that time. Because of that time spent together, she has a bit of a soft, nurturing side toward Zoro. However, unfortunately, half of what she learned about Zoro is that Zoro has a pension for getting in over his head, and while he does come out victorious most of the times, there was that one time, that one solitary time where he did not. He died. And Perona's spirit shattered when she heard the news. She had to say goodbye to him once, which was painful already, but twice - and in such a way as death, was too much. She couldn't cope with it. It just goes to show that Zoro's close to Perona now, and she'd be lost without him in some form. Thankfully, he came back, and she took out some of her aggression and sadness on him, which helped. She also just got a chance to sit with him and enjoy the fact that he was back, and even remembered her a little better. It was painful before, when she came back, knowing that Zoro didn't know her as well as she knew him. It still is, because he's two years behind her, but again, she's just glad he's here again, with her. She doesn't want to say goodbye, and now that Zoro's died once, she doesn't ever want to. Not without a proper sendoff, at least, and for the right reasons. She wants him to stay with her, as selfish as that is, for as long as she can hope for. Much like with Mihawk, Perona's aware that she does care, to a degree, and she's also aware that her feelings may not be returned. And while it does bother her, she's just happy for the memories and the time spent in their company. Zoro, and Mihawk as well, were the first real things that silhouetted nakama for Perona, and she treasures that alone. |
